I have yet to meet someone who likes to be in pain. People always come to me to get OUT of pain. Typically when I ask people what success looks like for them, they want to be pain-free. But should that be the end goal? Not necessarily! Here at Empower Physio and Wellness, we 100% want to help you reduce or eliminate your pain. But that’s just step one in our four-step method to help you live a fulfilling and joyful life.

We’ve developed the four-step “Journey to Recovery” method to help you get out of pain, stay out of pain, and maximize your resilience for everything you encounter in life. So for us, getting out of pain is not the end goal, it’s merely the beginning. Let’s break it down.

Our patented process

Once you decide to work with us, the first thing we do is an evaluation. This is where we talk about what’s bothering you, your goals, and relevant lifestyle factors like sleep, stress, exercise, and nutrition. We then do a hands-on assessment so we can understand what’s going on. We explain the results to you in full detail and present a plan to help you reach your goals.

Phase 1: Calm

The first step in our plan is the “Calm” phase. The goal of this phase is to bring pain levels down. We need to get you feeling better so that you have more peace and clarity in your life—because let’s be honest, being in pain is exhausting! We use several methods to achieve this, and it usually involves a combination of dry needling, cupping, trigger point release, breath work, and mobility drills.

Phase 2: Retrain

The next phase is the “Retrain” phase. The goal of this phase is to get you moving better. Everyone compensates, especially when dealing with discomfort. The body is always looking for the quickest and most efficient way to move. It’s great that our bodies do this…up to a point. Compensations over time can be a cause of pain, stiffness, overuse, and injuries. So in the Retrain phase, we start to peel back those layers of compensation and optimize your movement. When you move well, you feel better and are much less likely to have recurring injuries or flare-ups.

Phase 3: Empower

After we get you moving better, we enter the “Empower” phase. In this phase, our goal is to build strength. However, it is super important that we have reduced pain and optimized movement FIRST. Jumping straight to strength training can actually make your pain or injury worse. Think of strength training as locking in the work we did in the first two phases. Being strong is also what builds resilience in the body so that you’re more capable of responding to life’s demands. This allows you to be able to do yard work, clean the house, have an intensive grandkid day, and travel without feeling totally wrecked afterward.

Phase 4: Empower Plus

In our last phase, we help you crush those big goals. Whether you want to improve your training program, run a longer distance, start an exercise routine, or feel amazing on a big vacation, we want to support you! We offer running and exercise programming as well as continued “maintenance” visits to keep your body tuned up and functioning at its best.

We take pride in this unique method, developed by yours truly. I created this method after working with hundreds of clients and realizing that approaching recovery this way promoted the best results.
